Welcome to Orchestra!
Dear Rising 6th Grade Student,
I am SO excited for you to join the TRMS Orchestra Family! I know you may have a lot of questions, and I am ready to answer them. I want to reassure you that you don't need ANY prior musical knowledge to join orchestra. I will teach you all the skills you need to be successful including how to read music, how to hold your instrument, all about the four orchestra instruments, and more! Orchestra is a fun class that you go to every day for the whole school year where you will become a string musician and make lots of new friends. Orchestra is hard work, but it is very rewarding. I look forward to meeting you soon!

What instruments are in the orchestra family?
String orchestra is made up of four instruments: the violin, viola, cello, and bass. We will spend time at the beginning of the school year learning about each of these instruments before you choose the one you want to play! Required Materials
- Essential Elements Book One (Ms. Paul-Nally will give you one!)
- Black Orchestra binder (provided at beginning of school year!)
- Pencils (no pens please)
- Sheet Music (with your name on it)
- A Positive Attitude!!
Rental Check-List
This document will be sent home with your 6th grader once they have chosen their instrument and have been sized properly. In case they lose their copy, please see below! This document serves as a check-list for when you visit the music store to ensure you leave with everything your student will need!
